1. Think of a project at your organization and write about in 5-10 lines. The owner for the whom the project is done is IOCL and the location is in Paradeep, Orissa. The performing organization is IOT Utkal Energy Service Ltd. The objective of the project is the installation, operation and maintenance of crude and finished products tanks facilities at Paradeep Refinery Project. The effective start date was 23rd November, 2009 and the commissioning of crude tank is 22nd January, 2012. The project duration is for 806 days and till now the time elapsed is 396 days. The operation and maintenance part of project will take 15 years. The project is in the execution stage. 2. Why is this task a project and not a part of regular operations? This is a project because it has a defined date of start and end. Even it has the defined period of 806 Days and till now 26 months are completed along with 410 days to complete the project. It is not a continuous process. Once the period of the project end there will be no further process involved in this process. 3. Define the Start Date and Tentative End date of the Project? The start date of the project is 23rd November, 2009 and the end date is 22nd January, 2012. And Maintenance and operation part is spread over a period of 15 years from the date of installation. 4. Identify the traits of a Project Manager for the particular project? The project manager has the traits of self-confidence, specialized knowledge of engineering and installation, have the prior experience in the field in various location like Kuwait, Hyderabad, Dubai, scrutinize the project in each and every phase. The project manager in this project has the self confidence and motivates his subordinates to get the works done in an efficient manner.
