ADVANCEMENT IN ELECTRO PORCELAIN SHELL ASSEMBLING By, Krishna Bhalaji R.

ABSTRACT:
While assembling the shell the concentricity is important. For that the piece is beaten with wooden hammer for centering. Sometimes it leads to broke of petticoats. Else it leads to cement variation. And more over after assembling extra cement will be there, by scooping it is removed. In some case chipping can happens which leads to shell chip or hardware damages. To avoid this washer is provided in the size of shell chamfer and cement clearance as its dimensions. Washer is placed between shell and the hardware. It will avoid scooping process, cement variation and hardware damages.

CONTENT:
In the gap between the hardware ID and the Shell OD, washer is placed. Mainly it should be made up of material which should not easily bond with cement. Materials like Teflon or any other suitable rigid material can be used. Dimensions of the washer should be made as per the clearance tolerance. In the below picture orange colored region shows the washer presents. Its the cross- section view of the assembled set.

WASHER: The washer is drawn as by approximate dimension. Its just to show the idea.

After assembling remove the adapter plate and this washer and move to curing by skipping the scooping process.

ADVANTAGES:
No need of scooping process. Because of scooping, shell ID chip or hardware damages will be happens. It will be prevented. Cement variation defects will be prevented. (0.1% assembly defects are because of cement variation).
