Hello:
I am applying for the IT Audit Consultant within RSM McGladrey. My experience within the
University of South Carolina at Columbia has taught me a lot about technology and its massive
areas. I received a Bachelors of Science in Technology Support and Training Management. This
major focused on Project Management, PC repair, Networking and database software such as
Oracle and Microsoft Access.
Many of my courses were hands-on dealing with computer repair and networking. Virtual PC
2004 was used to simulate environments in Windows Server 2003. Mock projects were done for
many of our course projects in order to use Project Management skills; our main project dealt
with the Columbia Children's Theatre. My group created a database using Microsoft Access 2003
which allowed the Theatre to keep records of all the actors, volunteers, and donors who were a
part of various performances.
During my time at USC Columbia as a computer technician, I have been introduced to many
areas of the IT field. One of our major projects was to create a lab for the Palmetto Boys' State
participants. This lab contained 40 Dell PCs, 2 HP Laser Jet printers, and 3 Macintosh machines;
these computers including the Macs were connected to the USC network. The largest part of this
project was that I had the opportunity to enable the Macs access to the network when USC does
not support them. I considered this a great challenge for me to receive hands-on experience with
the Macintosh computers and gain more knowledge about wireless networking.
Information Technology has many facets, and I love that about the IT field. It is ever-changing
and holds many challenges for the end-user or professional involved. My ultimate goal is to
become a Project Manager, but I would like to experience many areas of the IT field along the
way. I am looking forward to growing with your company and gaining new opportunities to
learn.
