Sacramento City Council 915 I Street Sacramento, CA 95814 RE: Repeal of Superstore Ordinance - OPPOSE Dear Councilmembers, The Stonewall Democratic Club of Greater Sacramento opposes repealing the Superstore Ordinance. The mission of the Stonewall Democratic Club of Greater Sacramento is to advance equal rights for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We are also a Democratic club that supports policies that reflect progressive values. The Superstore Ordinance - adopted in 2006 - ensures economic impact studies and wage analyses for proposed superstores larger than 90,000 square feet with more than 10 percent of space dedicated to groceries. These restrictions may seem cumbersome, but they ensure that Sacramento's precious land is not sold to the highest bidder without regard for the long-term consequences to the community residents and businesses. Superstores have been known to cause a financial drain on the surrounding community due to low-wages that force out smaller businesses. The Stonewall Democrats of Greater Sacramento stand in solidarity with other organizations and urge the City Council to not repeal the Superstore Ordinance. Sincerely,

Mario Guerrero President Stonewall Democratic Club of Greater Sacramento
