AIR PRESSURE FOR REAR SHOCKS IN THE MARIN QUAD-LINK

SUSPENSION RANGE

To get the best performance from the Rear Suspension please follow these
instructions.

Air Pressure in Rear Shock. Figure 1

Using a shock air pump with a pressure gauge, initially set the pressure to match
the riders weight in lb. That is for a 150lb all-up rider set the shock pressure to
150psi. (Note: Turn off any ‘Pro Pedal’ or platform type switches whilst setting up
the sag)

To fine tune this setting to get the best performance from your Quad-Link system,
slide the ‘o’ ring up the shaft until it is sitting against the main body of the shock.
(Figure 1)

Sit on the bike in the normal riding position, trying not to bounce the suspension.
The ‘o’ ring will move away from the shock body when you sit on the bike. (Figure
2)

Dismount carefully and check the distance between the base of the shock body Figure 2
and the new position of the ‘o’ ring using the measuring gauge. This new distance
is called the sag position. (Figure 3)

Refer to the chart for the correct distance for your model. If the measurement is
less than the recommended distance you must let some air out of the shock. If the
distance is too great then air must be added to the shock.

To check the new sag setting, repeat the process as described above.

As each shock pump and pressure gauge varies slightly several attempts may
have to be made to get exactly the correct sag setting. (Note: Set up of any re-
mote chambers on the shock is covered in the bikes manual and relevant shock
manufacturers’ manual.)

MODEL SAG % AND DISTANCE IN MILLIMETERS
QUAD XC 120 25% 12.5 mm 30% 15.0 mm
QUAD TRAIL 140 25% 12.5 mm 30% 15.0 mm
QUAD XLT 30% 19.0 mm 35% 22.0 mm
QUAD TARA (2007) 30% 15.0 mm 35% 17.0 mm

Please note: 25% sag setting gives a firmer ride feel and 30% sag setting
gives a plusher ride feel.
