Hannah Cain was born in the part of Virginia that became West Virginia.

Her fath er was Daniel Cain who was born 1747 Harris Ferry, Virginia. Her mother is unkno wn and at times has been confused with a member of the Custer Family only becaus e one of them married a different man named Daniel Cain. Hannah's father died sh ortly after the epicemic of 1847 in 1851 at the age if 103 at the " Old Allen Fa rm" which was his first farm in Greene Co. There is a Rev War Plaque there. Hann ah and Samuel were married 25 May 1799 at the New Garden Monthly Meeting, Guilfo rd Co., North Carolina. Their marriage is recorded there and names Daniel Cain a s her father.
