What we aim to do
We bring Elders (over 50s) and schools together And Elders and Elders together Why?

To share wisdom, expertise, skills and experience

The result? Mutually beneficial relationships

We do not replace teachers - we support them and the schools they work in

No direct fundraising for schools

What we do: Vision/Mission

Aspects of our Vision Collaborative working together with schools to help children reach their full potential

Aspects of our Mission Initiate, convene and coordinate Elders contributions to the future of SA Education

Schools need so many different things what can you offer? Some examples

Where are our schools?

City Bowl for now. Then the rest of CT, the Western Cape, and, ultimately, SA

We have spoken to a number of principals and stakeholders around the Peninsula.

The consensus is that there is a desperate need for support!

I am not a teacher! We need people from all walks of life I have nothing to offer Everyone has something to offer! I dont want to travel far No problem well find a school close by I dont have my own transport Well arrange transport in those cases What about personal safety? Ensuring our volunteers personal safety is one of our priorities

I am not good with people You dont have to be theres lots of other work I was a teacher for many years Ive done my time! What about helping us internally? I am worried about language / cultural issues Youll work where youre comfortable and can speak your own languages

In a few words

Elders can make a valuable contribution Elders will benefit personally

It wont be easy we know this

Its critical that we all roll up our sleeves and get involved WIIFM make new friends and build rich relationships
