DEPARTMENT: Criminology SYLLABUS I. SUBJECT CODE AND TITLE LEA 213 (Patrol Organization and Operation with Police Communication System) II. SUBJECT DESCRIPTION The organizational set-up of a patrol force and its functions and responsibilities, to include types of patrol, patrol strategies and tactics; patrol supervision and functional relationships with other police functions. III. GENERAL OBJECTIVE At the end of the semester, student should be able to : a) Appreciate the importance and objectives of Police Patrol in crime prevention, and in the maintenance of peace and order. b) Identify the different factor affect in patrol operations and its effects to the Police officers deployed in the field. c) Know the organizational and staffing pattern of patrol function. d) Enumerate the different types of patrol method, its applicability and importance in designing beat patrol assignment. e) Be familiar with the different police patrol tactics, strategies and techniques. f) Have understanding on the importance of supervisions n patrol activities for the attainment of the organization goals and objectives. g) Recognize other activities of the police organization which are having a direct relationship or providing support with the police patrol activities. h) Be able to know the importance of Police Beat system as a component of the Community Oriented Policing System. i) To help the student to understand the different principles underlying police operation and activities.
