of Sociology
1.0 INTRODUCTION Societal structure is an important part of sociology. It began to emerge as a separate discipline of knowledge only around the middle of the nineteenth century and took another fifty years before this subject began to assume the scientific character that it has today. The term Sociology was given to us by Auguste Comte in 1839 who was French philosopher. His teaching started as a separate branch of knowledge in 1876 in the United States ; 1889 in France and 1907 in Great Britain.
