Spring Chorus and Orchestra Concerts This coming May Barton Colleges Chorus and Symphony Orchestra are

putting on the Spring Concerts. Orchestra will be performing on Sunday, May 1 at 3p.m. and the Chorus will be performing on Thursday May 5 at 7p.m. Both concerts will be held in the Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre. The concerts will be open to the public and the Barton community including students, teachers, and staff. Tickets will be priced at $10 per person and free to all Barton College students with an ID. This year the Orchestra consists of about 50 people ranging from Barton College students to volunteers. The volunteers consist of students from high schools, professional musicians, and professional music educators. On May 1 the orchestra will be performing 3 Slavanic dances of Antonin Dvorak, Mozart Violin Concerto #5, and Zigeurweisen (Gypsy Airs) by Pablo DeSarsate. There will also be a violin solo performed by Marjorie Bagley, a professional violinist. Zigeurweisen (Gypsy Airs) is a dazzling show piece that everyone will enjoy, said Mark Peterson, Director of Music. The preparations for the Spring Concert are coming along well and I feel that everyone will do a wonderful job, said Yahsnniah Figueroa, a freshman and member of the orchestra. The Chorus will also be performing, however this year they only have 10 members unlike in other years when they had close to 30 people.

Their concert will be featuring melodies from three classic Broadway shows, the Phantom of the Opera, Guys and Dolls, and Rent. Im really excited about the Spring Concert because its really exciting music from well known plays like Rent and Phantom of the Opera. I believe that the concert will receive great reviews from the community, said Nicole Murray, a freshman and member of the chorus.
