Walk around to check on students progress, individually correct students as you go. Answer any questions students may have. Students must turn in assignment when done. If finished early, students may take out their personal books and read quietly. After all papers are turned in and students have returned from their activities (such as music class, gym, or lunch) we will read a story together on the SMARTboard. I will read the story and highlight the first word of each sentence as we go along. After the story is complete, the helper of the week will get to come up and highlight all ending punctuation. Now, having students raise their hands, call on volunteers to highlight capital letters. After this is complete, hand back papers for corrections. If students need multiple corrections, instead of personal reading time, have them meet with me at their desks for further explanation on their mistakes and why it was incorrect.
