Yonkers Riverfront Library hosting Word Wednesdays!

CLUSTER, Family Service Society of Yonkers, and Livable Community Connection, South West Region Yonkers Office for the Aging in partnership with the Yonkers Riverfront Library are pleased to announce the thrilling new summer program DIG BENEATH THE SURFACE... WORD WEDNESDAYS! Families, children, teens, and adults are invited to celebrate the power of words in this fun, intergenerational gaming (board and electronic games) program. Program participants will build vocabulary and reading skills while playing board games such as Scrabble, Scrabble Jr., Boggle, StoryCubes, Bananagrams, Apples to Apples and Word Memory; electronic games such as Ps2 SingStar, Wii Rock Band, and iPad/Tablet Word Game Apps; Crossword Puzzles, Limericks, Jokes, Word Searches and more! Different games will be featured each week. Join the fun at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, July 17, 24 and 31 and August 7, 14 and 21 in Community Room A & B. (Wednesdays, July 24, and August 14 programs will be held in the Event Space. Be sure to bring your library card to the program so you can check out books from our Library Display. Share your favorite and/or newly learned words on our "Word of the Day" Wall. This program was funded in part by a grant from the East Yonkers Rotary Club.
