Comments: Excellent answer to question one, detailed analysis of camera angles and acting style to depict and introduce the character of Amelie, including her parents characters and tehy way they contribute to our understanding of her. Good example with the breaking of the fourth wall and its impact on audience. While in Q2 there is some overlap with the info presented in Q1 the addition of mise en scene, editing and a focus on the later part of the lm help you to oer a strong analysis of the character development. Q3 is not as detailed and perhaps an additional example - like the use of sound in the train sequences- would have supported your point. However the description of the seasons and narrator is good. Accurate denition of Cause and eect and a good example from Amelie demonstrates how the audience is engaged in her story and how it relates to real world events. in Q5 your analysis of sound includes an analysis of the use of Aldos voice from an acting perspective, while this is sound perhaps a stronger example could be used.

Comments: In Q1 try to identify what mise en scene communicates not only what it is, for example what do the colours signify. While you have described one camera technique i would have like you to add detail about the shot type to, for example close up. Q2 identies the production elements and characters but you need to oer more detailed examples of the 3 production elements mentioned. Q3 is a detailed example, well done, great examples of sound and editing and their contribution to the structuring of time. Your answer for Q4 needed a description of how we know it is the 1980s or 2000s and which examples tell the audience it is in Paris. Your description of lighting in the opening scene of Inglourious Basterds is detailed and provides great insight. The description of sound is less eective in this answer, perhaps a dierent scene would give be er examples in the lm.

Comments:
In Q1 you identify correctly as editing and sound as production elements and give a good description of sound in the opening however you neglect to detail the use of editing in the opening sequence, instead describing cause and effect. In your planning editing techniques are identied but this is not clear in your actual answer. Better detail is provided for Q2 with a range of examples from the lm of the way Character is created through production elements. Two good examples of the ways the lm demonstrates time progressing, however more detail would show your understanding of media language. Be careful of using the same scene as an example in more than one answer - for example the seasons passing with the teddy bear in the garden. Your denition of cause and effect needs to focus on character motivation to, the two examples you provide are effective, but more detail about audience engagement would support your ideas. Again question 5 lacks the detail and examples need to achieve further marks.

Comments: You oer some great descriptions of camera techniques and acting in Q1, try to be specic about the opening scene especially when describing the use of production techniques, for example the close ups make the audience feel, and which specic pans communicate Amelies perspective? Great addition of the mother and fathers introduction contributing to our understanding of her character. In Q2 you do focus on special eects in editing which do develop her character, try to also include some of the technical language of editing. What might the use of red communicate to the audience about Amelie, great description but try to always include analysis of what is implied to. Not sure that the link between editing and the narrator is clear enough for question 3. Accurate, but confusing denition of Se ing. Q4 is not as detailed an answer your examples while accurate do not outline how or why this engages. Q5 is a clearer answer with specic examples of camera angles and acting techniques used in combination.

Comments:
Great examples of camera techniques and editing in Q1 and accurate identication of production elements. Your description of the elements used in combination is also effective in analysing the opening sequence. You identify how Specic camera angles and editing techniques used in the opening do support the themes that are explored throughout the lm. In Q2 you identify mise en scene, costumes and acting techniques that establish the character of Amelie and give examples of the techniques, try to be specic about the gestures, facial expression that are used and try to include the breaking of the rules that occur when Amelie directly faces and speaks to the camera. In Q3 you describe how camera techniques show the passing of time however the description of sound is not as effective, it does show the contribution to mood but that doesnt address the question. You dene Setting accurately in Q4, and identify which real world events show us the time and place and therefore engage the audience. Your description of how this real world is then broken and becomes and fantasy is very interesting. The opening scene in Inglourious Basterds is detailed and analysed very effectively in question 5 and again when you combine the two elements you show real insight.

Comments: Excellent level of detail for question one, really clear description of all the camera angles and the way they connect to introduce the themes and ideas. Q2 you describe the colour and its contribution to the meaning created in the narrative. The description of sound and camera techniques moving time in the narrative is also detailed and insightful. The denition of se ing is accurate and the examples in the text are strong, the ideas about cha er in the lm are very interesting. I think you are describing cause and eect in this answer and need to focus on which Paris we see - beautiful, free of rubbish or anything modern. In question ve the element of sound is not covered in as much detail and perhaps a dierent scene would be a be er example
