The ancient Greeks began the tradition of the Olympics long ago. They loved competition of any sort, especially sporting competitions. We carry on this tradition to this day. Why did the ancient Greeks begin this tradition, and why do we carry it on? Did this tradition have a special purpose, and does it still today? Where there specific traditions within the larger tradition of the Olympics that had special meaning? You will need to investigate these questions, and any other questions that arise as youre researching to come up with a purpose for the Olympic games, past and present. Could NHI have Olympic games? How can we, as students of Nature Hill Intermediate, decide what the purpose of the ancient Olympic Games was, and design a plan to create the Olympic Games of Nature Hill for our school?
