Simple Future Present Past I will eat pizza I eat pizza I ate pizza Progressive I will be eating pizza I am eating pizza I was eating pizza Perfect I will have eaten pizza I have eaten pizza I had eaten pizza Perfect progressive I will have been eating pizza I have been eating pizza I had been eating pizza

Only the auxiliary verb changes in the future, present, and past of the progressive, perfect and prefect progressive tenses; the rest of the sentence remains the same (in progressive to be in future, present, and past; in perfect have in future, present and past, and so on). Future and past tenses share similar uses in every category. The present form has a different use (in simple forms, future=an action in the future; past= an action in the past; present= a habit or repetitive action). Of all tenses, half of them are used to talk about the past (see colored cells ) Half of the tenses are considered the most important ones, since you can say just about everything in a simple way using them.
