DETECTING DIABETES PRESENCE FROM IRIS IMAGE ANALYSIS Sathya P Center for Medical Electronics, Department of ECE, College

Of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai - 25 ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by high levels of blood glucose resulting from defects in insulin production, insulin action, or both. Correct and timely diagnosis is a critical, yet essential requirement of medical science. The main objective of this project is, to explore the area of diagnosing diabetes presence from different perspective. Iris image analysis is one of the most efficient non-invasive diagnosis methods for determining health status of organs. The approach used is a combination of ancestor's technology Iridodiagnosis with Image processing, to detect diabetes disease at its early stage. I METHODOLOGY Input Iris image captured using slit lamp, after the preprocessing of raw sample image stage, iris portion segmented, and normalization, Feature Extraction and Classification. Classification achieved with Back Propagation Network(BPN) and and Support Vector Machine(SVM). From the result of these two classifiers, it is observed that, SVM is suitable for classifying the Iris samples features.
