The book is fiction based. It gives a look into the another countries experiences with the war and how it effected them afterwards. It follows a group of teenage boys who belong to a prohibited underground swing dance club/scene. It details their experience as German youth and what it meant to be a part of anything other than the German/Hitler youth. It also gives examples of what it was like inside the Hitler youth and the problems that arise when one chose to disagree with the popular beliefs.
