February 2011

SWISS raises passenger volumes for February, too

SWISS carried a total of 1 073 916 passengers in February 2011, a
7.2% increase on the 1 001 493 of the same month last year. The airline
performed 6.9% more flights in Europe for the month: 10 266, compared
to 9 605 in February 2010. And the 1 260 flights operated on the
carriers intercontinental routes were also a 9.6% increase on the 1 150
of the prior-year period.
The 76% systemwide seat load factor recorded for the month was a
slight decline on the 77.2% of February 2010. While intercontinental seat
load factor slipped from 82.6% to 80.3%, the 67.8% seat load factor
achieved on SWISSs European network was a 0.6-percentage-point
improvement on the 67.2% of the prior-year period. Overall, SWISS
offered 11.3% more seat-kilometre capacity in February than it had for
the same month last year.
SWISS WorldCargo posted a cargo load factor (by volume) of 81.4%
for the month. The result is a 4.6-percentage-point decline on the 86%
of February 2010.
