Dear Sir/Madam: Elizabeth Chima has been a student of cole Madeleine d'Houet, a bilingual junior high school in Calgary,

Alberta, Canada, for the past three years. Over the past year, I have had the pleasure of Elizabeth's participation in my Grade 9 English Language Arts class. In the time that I have known Elizabeth, she has demonstrated maturity, commitment, responsibility, and leadership. She is respected by both her peers and the school's faculty. Elizabeth is a stellar English student. Her assignments are always submitted punctually and their quality is outstanding. She is an enthusiastic participant in class discussions and her observations and comments are always on point, thoughtful, and meaningful. She is an avid reader who usually chooses contemporary literature above her grade level. Finally, Elizabeth is an excellent writer who usually scores within the top ten percent of the class. Not only is Elizabeth a talented student, but she also has athletic ability. When she was in the seventh grade, she was a member of the junior girls' basketball team, playing as their center. In grade 8, she played center and guard on the senior girls' basketball team. In her final year of junior high, she played post on the senior team. Over the past three years, Elizabeth was also a member of our "Dance Works Team" where student members created and performed challenging dance routines for exhibition. Elizabeth is talented musically. She has been a member of our jazz and concert bands for all three years of her junior high experience. She plays the flute, alto saxophone and the guitar. Lastly, Elizabeth does not shy away from volunteer work. She is a member of SWAT (Student Wellness Action Team), a group of students who promote healthy living to their peers. In addition, she was a participant at "We Day", a day that encouraged youth from across the City to become involved in international issues. Elizabeth was then instrumental in developing a "Mini We Day" at our school which spurred our students on to volunteer to make positive change in their communities. She also volunteered to read the school announcements every day and to lead our school in daily prayer. I am hopeful that it is apparent that Elizabeth is a well-rounded student who would benefit greatly by attending a preparatory college. She is an excellent student and athlete while still finding the time to participate in a myriad of extra-curricular activities. It is without hesitation that I recommend Elizabeth Chima to you for admission into Dhahran High School. Yours truly, Cindy Kuran-White Teacher, cole Madeleine D'Houet School
