AnthroWatch, a non-government organization working on indigenous peoples concerns in the Philippines, is accepting applications for a Geographic Information System

(GIS) Assistant. AnthroWatch assists indigenous peoples communities in their delineation and community development planning. This job entails assisting AnthroWatch in its GIS thrusts, as well as giving logistical support to related project work. Geographic Information System (GIS) Assistant BASE / PROGRAMME: REPORTS TO: WORKING WITH: WORKING HOURS: START DATE: DURATION: REQUIREMENTS: Quezon City / GIS, with frequent travel to project areas Primarily to the Executive Director, secondarily to the Finance and Administration Officer Other Project Staff 40 person hours a week on flexi-time arrangement upon consultation with and approval of the Executive Director 7 June 2013 June 2013 February 2014 (9 mos), with possibility of extension

Graduate of geography or any related social science course Has basic computer skills Word, Excel, email Can undertake computer-based work for extended periods of time Willing to undertake continuing training in relation to the work Has strong attention to detail Can work with a team and individually Can get along and work with different kinds of people Is flexible, can easily adjust to changes in work situations Willing to undertake field work, including trekking through mountains and similar activities Willing to travel frequently SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Functions Related to GIS Undertakes training of community participants on 3-D model construction Supervises the construction of 3-D models in communities Undertakes the collection of GIS data (through the use of GPS, research of existing maps) Encodes GIS data Produces maps and other products arising from encoded GIS data Represents AnthroWatch in GIS-related meetings, conferences, trainings and other such fora Undertakes the logistical preparations for GISrelated activities Writes timely reports on activities undertaken Assists in keeping the GIS room organized and tidy Participation in Institutional Work

Provides logistical assistance to the Finance and Administration Manager when requested to do so, with clearance from the Executive Director, e.g. messengerial services, supplies procurement, equipment maintenance, and the like Represents AnthroWatch in functions outside of the organization when tasked to do so Performs other special tasks related to AnthroWatch work that may be assigned from time to time
