Teaching Experience: Wakefield High School, Raleigh NC: Social Studies Teacher August 2009-Present Courses Taught: World History, United States History, and Civics and Economics Developed differentiated lessons and activities to achieve and assess progress made toward the goals established for each student by their team (parent, student, teacher, counselor, and administrator. Kept in continuous communication with parents, students, administrators and counselors to ensure every student had the necessary support to achieve their highest potential. Collaborated with English, Math, and Science teachers to create cross-curricular lesson plans. Worked closely with media and technology team members to create effective and differentiated learning experiences for students through the use of various technology tools as well as utilized appropriate technological tools to assist students and parents. Team Leadership Experience: World History Professional Learning Team Leader August 2012-June 2013 Represented World History teachers in leadership decisions for within the department, school, and county. Acted as lesion between teachers and administration at the department, school, and county level. Set agenda and facilitated weekly meetings for the World History teachers at Wakefield, including leading the team in trainings on Common Core standards, new technology tools, as well as new state assessment methods. Collected and consolidated assessment data from team members in order to inform our planning and meet our team goals for student growth, professional development, and curriculum development. Wakefield Ninth Grade Center Advisory Board: Member March 2012-June 2013 Worked with faculty, staff, and administration, to improve the function of the Wakefield High School Ninth Grade Center. Collected and utilized goal specific data to inform our decisions and planning. Discussed areas of weakness and strength within the instruction, and management of the Wakefield High School Ninth Grade Center, then created and implemented plans to strengthen areas of weakness. Professional Development Facilitator in Educational Technology August 2011-June 2013 Created a classroom website as well as a student-run blog, then worked with other faculty Facilitated a school-wide professional development workshop for utilizing Twitter in the classroom. Facilitated three separate training workshops at Wakefield High School to encourage the school community to utilize Edmodo.
