To Whom It May Concern:

It gives me great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Miss Valerie Bebee and her consideration for certification in online/blended learning. My son, Jake, and I have been working with Miss Bebee through the W.O.L.F. program in Reno, Nevada.
Miss Bebee recently completed an online lesson with Jake and a group of classmates that focused on improving voice in narrative writing by working on "showing not telling" paragraphs, using both Edmodo and Google Docs. The lesson began with a clever VOKI introduction using a pink poodle that gave instructions on how to get started. The use of the poodle was engaging and immediately got Jake's attention and interest. Miss Bebee also posted specific written instructions for the lesson on Edmodo.
The next part of the lesson consisted of a video, narrated by Miss Bebee, that clearly stated the lesson's objective and modeled the differences between a paragraph that lacked voice and a

"showing" paragraph. Her excellent example and clear instructions allowed Jake to easily find the information that he needed in the story. I was able to guide him to find the "telling" words in his paragraph that he could elaborate on and change into "showing" phrases. After he and the other students uploaded and posted their paragraphs in Google Docs, using a font color of their choice, Miss Bebee highlighted a few specific words in each student's patagraph that could be rewritten as showing phrases. Jake was very excited to edit another student's paragraph, and he was equally pleased to receive feedback on his paragraph by another student. He found it extremely helpful to hear each student read his or her paragraph and see how another student had helped to add voice. The objective of the lesson was reinforced, both visually and orally, and Jake said that the lesson helped him to understand how to bring out more of his own voice in his writing.
Lastly, I must comment on Miss Bebee, as a person, and her ability to convey a very warn, positive, and supportive approach as an online teacher. Jake commented specifically on Miss
Bebee's calm tone of voice in the "showing not telling" video and how welcoming and encouraging it was. During the live lesson he said that while Miss Bebee is teaching she makes him feel very successful and cared for. He always finishes his live lessons with a smile!

Thank you for the opporfunity to speak to Miss Bebee's consideration. If you need further information, please contact me at (77 5) 848-8959. Respectfully,
Sherri LeVitt
