Purpose of this course

The purpose of these units it to study the development of children, covering development from conception, birth, to school aged. You will be required to know developmental stages up to adolescence. Through a realistic approach, the goals of these units are to successfully use social media outlets and tools to complete various assignments and activities, along with demonstrating understanding of concepts presented.

On each page throughout this course, you will find a 'Did You Know...?' section on the right sidebar. A variety of interesting facts about the developing child will be presented to you on each web page.
About Your Instructor
Ms. Carter received her bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas. After graduating, Ms. Carter immediately went on to complete her Master of Science degree from the University of Houston - Clear Lake. She looks forward to seeing her students' growth during the completion of this course.

Read colorful picture books and magazines to babies. Ask for desired behaviors. For example, instead of saying "don't stand," say "time to sit".

Once you have have set up your Pinterest account, take a print screen shot of your Pinterest home page with you logged in. This will be used to verify that you have completed this task. If you do not know how to take a print screen on your computer, use your preferred search engine, or these links may help (For Mac, For Windows). Take your time to get familiar with Pinterest. Navigate through the site, and check out the features that you read about provided in the articles above.

Set rules and limits for the child, and stick to them. If the child breaks a rule, give him a time out for 30 seconds to a minute in a chair or in his room. Praise the child for following the rules.
