environment. Of course we found a lot of phenomena that associate with things like the above. We live in a community, that means we live in a life society. We live in a society, that means we live together with other people. We live with other people, that means we use a language when we talk to them. When we talk to them, so we create a speech community, and it will make many variations in that language. I think not all of people came from the same area. In a life society, there are many ethnics, many groups, and many rates that we had found. Thats why we have to learn about Sociolinguistics, a study about language and society. Especially for this case, I take a title about Differences of Ethnic, Culture and Languages at Pasar Minggu, KFC, and Mega Mall in Bengkulu. I live in Bengkulu for 19 years, since I was born in 1993. I know quite a lot about the cultures of Bengkulu. Additionally, Bengkulu has many original ethnics, and many historical things, so in this paper I will try to analyze about words and culture, also ethnographies in Bengkulu based on one of discussion in Sociolinguistics book at chapter 9 and 10. I choose that place (Pasar Minggu, KFC, and Mega Mall) because they are totally different places! And its so interesting and exciting to be a research. They have many differences each other. Different in atmospheres, different in materials, different locations, different people are visiting, different cultures, different ethnics, different languages are used, and different in many aspects.

ociety, culture, ethnics, and language, perhaps we would not be separated from those aspects. In addition, we cant ever refuse and reject those life aspects. That's why we live in this world are not alone. We live in a community

At first, I just wanted to research Pasar Minggu and Mega Mall only. However, shortly after that, I felt hungry, and decided to buy food at the KFC store. Finally, at the time of eating there, I thought to add my research on the fast-food restaurant. I think, this is very exciting and enjoyable. In this paper, will be discussed a little bit about words, culture, and ethnographies in Bengkulu. I know this paper is not perfect. Therefore, I ask critics and suggestions from readers for this, my mini research. Happy reading.

to operate in a manner acceptable to its members, and to do so in any role that they accept for any one of themselves. That knowledge is socially acquired: the necessary behaviors are learned and do not come from any kind of genetic endowment. Culture, therefore, is the know-how that a person must possess to get through the task of daily living; only for a few does it require a knowledge of some, or much, music, literature, and the arts. Bengkulu also has it, especially old culture in downtown of Bengkulu City; Suprapto Street and Pasar Minggu. They are the busiest area in Bengkulu City, because its a shopping centre. Many people from different ethnics are there. It will create an area with many cultures and many languages. One day, at June 19th of 2012, I did a research in Pasar Minggu. It is an old traditional market in Bengkulu. Pasar Minggu was built in 1980s as a small market. It was the second market in Bengkulu, after Pasar Bengkulu is located in the coast of Tapak Paderi beach. Pasar Minggu is located in the east of Suprapto street. Pasar Minggu is opened from dawn to dusk. It works and produce every day, although its name is Pasar Minggu. So, not only on Sunday. Pasar Minggu always crowded every day. Its interesting. Many people gather there. They came

from many ethnics, many rates, many culture, and even they also used some different languages there. I began from the main gate of Pasar Minggu, and then trace the path, enter into the sale of vegetables and fruits. There were so many marketer. They talked each other use their vernacular, dialect and their regional languages. Some of them maybe came from some hamlets of North Bengkulu, South Bengkulu, Lebong, and even from outside of Bengkulu, North Sumatera. I saw it from their conversations, their interactions, and their ways to offer goods. Sometimes I used their faces shape for know where they came from. There are also have many ethnics and rates, such as Bengkulunese, Rejang, Serawai, Curup, Lebong, Kaur, Manna, and from outside of Bengkulu such as Bataknese, Chinese, Javanese. However, its dominated by ethnics from Bengkulu. How about the culture? I can only explain a little descriptions about cultures are there. Ya, as well as you know, the markets people have poorly and minus attitude. I dont give a bad judgment to them, but I found that theyre impolite and not rude. In addition, they were also less clean and didnt pay attention to cleanliness of their environment. They were more often verbally abusive. Perhaps it was a picture of their low education, and their hard lives, so they were not taught to behave like an educated person. But they also have a positive value. They have high solidarity between the members of their ethnicity. That's what I learned from my research at the Pasar Minggu.

Move to another place. I brought my feet walk into Mega Mall, one of the biggest Mall in Bengkulu. Mega Mall is located in beside of Pasar Minggu, only a few meters. And its so different. The atmosphere is totally different with Pasar Minggu. If Pasar Minggu has a foul smell and stinging, and the floor is the disgusting muddy ground, then the Mega Mall has a fragrant scent, clean floor, because every time cleaned by the cleaning service. Mega Mall is always visited by many people, especially in holiday time. People from many areas, villages, and regencies of Bengkulu Province, come to Mega Mall, and it makes crowded. But the people who come to the Mega Mall is very different from people who come to the Pasar Minggu. Of course! Although they are of the same tribe and ethnic, but their clothes and appearances are totally different when visiting both markets. Mega Mall is a modern market, while the Pasar Minggu is a traditional market. Of course people are going to wear nice clothes, luxury, fashionable, and stylish when visiting the Mega Mall, and they will wear the simple clothes when they just go to the Pasar Minggu. It has become a habit and culture of the Bengkulu society. They could put

themselves where they are. In addition, people who visit Mega Mall every day will also be different from people who visit the Pasar Minggu. Most of people who comes to the Mega Mall is the rich, having much money, and most of them are immigrants, for example Chinese, Padangnese, Bataknese, Javanese, and so on. While at the Pasar Minggu, most people want to buy a lot of daily goods with cheap prices and of course the price can be

negotiable until death! Additionally, there was mostly dominated by indigenous Bengkulu. That's the difference! And what about the language they use? On the Pasar Minggu, we are not surprised to hear people screaming, saying rude, impolite and disrespectful, because it has become their habit. But at the Mega Mall, people will laugh when they see a man is screaming, crying, and not polite. Finally, theyll be accused of the madman! At least the level of politeness in Mega Mall is better than a Pasar Minggu. The other case is KFC Store, Suprapto Bengkulu. This America's fast food

restaurant almost every day visited by uniformed student, colleger and office workers. Almost 90% there! Why? It may be because the price is not too expensive and its location in the middle of town. It's a great location! In addition, the situation and condition are safe and clean. In KFC, there are almost all kinds of people, start from the children to the adult, ethnic A to Z and language A to Z. But of course, they wear clothes which are clean, polite, decent, not like in the Pasar Minggu. That's because they are the educated people. Their language is local language, Bengkulu language and Indonesian language. Sometimes foreign tourists are also coming from out of Indonesia to eat there. Yes of course they use their national language, English. That's why at KFC has more ethnics and cultures. Perhaps, since they adopt the culture of origin, America.

know that Ethnomethodology is that branch of sociology which is concerned, among other things, with talk viewed in this way. Ethnomethodologists are interested in the processes and techniques that people use to interpret the world around them and to interact with that world. So, from this explanation, I will try to conclude it into a comparison table :

rom the discussions, we can take a conclusion about Differences of Ethnic, Culture and Languages at Pasar Minggu, KFC, and Mega Mall in Bengkulu. Based on the written material about Ethnomethodology on page 252, we
