Four Strands of Social Studies (at a glance)

History: Includes students recognizing different cultures, identifying

peoples contributions in the community and conflict resolution.


Geography: By third grade, students can construct simple maps, locate

and name the states that share borders with Nevada and describe the way natural resources play a role in human life.
Economics: Students start to understand income, understanding and

using common banking terms (savings, interest, borrowing, etc.) and understanding the concept of limited resources in the classroom.
Civics: Understanding and using rules, listing out characteristics of a

leader and identifying and differentiating between city, state and country.
