    Social studies DOES NOT equal boring. Social studies is Civics, History, Geography and Economics.

    This content area contains important information to help our students succeed beyond the elementary classroom. Social studies starts out very basic in primary grades, but can leave a lasting impact when taught with engagement in mind. What does social studies mean? For children, it is an introduction to how things work in the physical world. Where is Utah in relation to Nevada? My students will know! What importance does a firefighter have to a city? My students will also know this. Social studies is a variety of concepts and it can be FUN. No one said History had to be boring or that social studies had to be taught in the most boring way possible. Social studies is INTERESTING! When you have enthusiasm for the topic, whether its geography jeopardy or having virtual tours of the White House, your students will soon follow suit.
