Amy Peabody September 24, 2012 Microteaching #1: TPR Total Physical Response: multiple passes and recycling

the storyline through picture displays, activities, and role-playing scenarios. Objective: Students will be able to associate clothing and body parts together when using a TPR method. This is for a fourth grade Spanish class that meets twice a week for an hour each time. Vocabulary words:

Clothing
dress el vestido pants, trousers los pantalones shirt la camisa shoe el zapato jacketla chaqueta Body Parts arm el brazo, back la espalda, breast, chest el pecho, elbow el codo, finger el dedo, heart el corazn, hip la cadera, knee la rodilla , leg la pierna, shoulder el hombro, stomach (abdomen) el vientre, Procedure: As the teacher I will demonstrate a gesture/ movement to show students a body part as I say the clothing article in Spanish. The gestures/movements will be as followed: I will say the word el vestido and make a movement with my right arm from my left shoulder down to my left knee. I will say the word los pantalones and make a movement with my left arm down my leg from my hips to my foot. I will say the word la camisa and make a movement with both my arms down the opposite arm. I will say the word el zapato and point at my foot. I will say the word la chaqueta and make the gesture as if I am taking off my coat.

I will go through these motions several times while saying the words. After a few repetitions I will then make the gesture and wait for the students to say the words.

Assessment: As the teacher, I will be able to assess if the students are able to associate body parts and clothing items based off how well they are able to say the clothing article as I make just the gesture/movement. As the students build more clothing vocabulary the students will make up their own gestures/movements to depict the word and associate it with the proper body part.
