Southgates May Day Fair to support the Teenage Cancer Trust

The annual community event organised by Christ Church Southgate will take place on Monday 6th May from 11am until 4pm.
The fair, now in its 35th year, takes place on Southgate Green and is organised by Christ Church Southgate with support from other local groups including the Explorer Scouts, the Highlands & Southgate Squadron Air Training Corp and the Southgate Green Association and offers a fun day out for the whole family. The main beneficiary of this years event is the Teenage Cancer Trust. The charity builds and maintains specialist Teenage Cancer wards in NHS hospitals, allowing teenagers (who would otherwise be treated in paediatric or adult wards) to be treated alongside people of their own age. The fair will be opened by Enfield-born soul singer and X-Factor star Andy Abraham, who is a long-time supporter of the charity. Stalls include books, music, toys, cakes and plants, with a wide variety of fun and games for all ages including crazy golf, a climbing wall, train rides and Go-Karts, face-painting a magician and much more. A wide variety of food and drink is on offer, with lunches served in the Walker Hall and the Church House bar open throughout the fair. Entertainment in the arena will include performances by the Latymer School Drama Group, the Enfield Grammar School Jazz Band, The Acorn Theatre Group and the Choir of Christ Church Southgate as well as demonstrations by Enfield Chace Dog Training Club, Zumba With Latin Vibes, Maypole Dancing and a Drill followed by the Air Cadets Band. The fair opens from 11am until 4pm. The official opening by Andy Abraham, the Mayor of Enfield, Fr Peter Jackson, the Vicar of Christ Church and David Burrowes MP will be at 12pm.
