January 14, 2013 Council Membership: January 2013 to June 2014 Dear Heather Rohr, RN: Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of Detroit Receiving Hospital /University Health Centers Professional Nurse Councils. The PNC looks forward to your input, fresh perspective, and efforts to move nursing at DRH/UHC forward as we continue on our path to becoming a high reliability organization. You will be a member of the Coordinating Council. Each council is chaired by a direct care nurse and mentored by a masters prepared nurse. Councils meet on the 2nd Thursday and 4th Tuesday of the month. A council subcommittee may meet at another time as determined by the group. Your commitment to excellence has provided improvements for our patients, your unit/service, and the hospital. For example: Safety Clarify use of patient allergy wrist bands Professionalism Promote implementation of the revised PDL Practice Determine best-practice for intravenous access of all patients Practice Review Discuss nursing practices related to Insulin use in uncommon situations

Your responsibilities as a council member include: attend council meetings, represent yourself and your unit/service-based group at the meetings, and communicate council activities to your peers. In addition, please arrange your work schedule to accommodate your council meeting times and discuss this matter with your manager. For details, please refer to the subsequent charts.
