Assessment

Ss will be evaluated by their ability to use adverbs of frequency (i.e. ever) to talk about sports and athletes in conversation with their partner. Ss will be evaluated by their ability to write 5 to 6 sentences about their favorite activities using the simple present and adverbs of frequency in

their two true facts and one false fact paragraph. Ss will be evaluated by their ability to notice and understand details and inferences in a conversation and match the details to the correct friend.

Anticipated Problems

I anticipate that the students will be nervous in the first activity because of the point to be fluent. Many of the students say a few words to convey their message, so I hope this activity will allow them to realize they can put together longer phrases, and making mistakes is OK. I anticipate that the students will have difficulty understanding what to write about because the unit (and previous activity) is about sports. I anticipate that the students will have difficulty understanding what a couch potato, a fitness freak, and a sports fan are. I hope through class discussion and the pictures on pg 40 of each friend the students will be able to better understand.
