Alyssa Molina English Reflection Essay During my individual conference we discussed my participation in class, different aspects of my writing, ways

to improve my writing, and my overall effort in the course. One of the key points we raised that I was very consistent in my hard work ethic, and I feel we definitely agreed that I do constantly participate in class whether it be asking questions or joining in on our class discussions. I think we also agreed that I was properly engaging with the course content as well. My overall work ethic clearly illustrates my investment in the course as a whole. We concluded that although I have made improvements regarding my organization within my essays, I still have to continue improving on that aspect because it is still not one of my strong points yet. Regarding my writing, we discussed my ability to illustrate how I have been trying to improve my organization and overall flow of my essays. I highlighted my sources and made lots of notes in order to get my ideas together and also made a rough outline before writing my essay. Although the overall flow of my essay and the organization of my writing is not at the level I would like it to be at, I feel I am definitely improving and during our conference I was able to illustrate that improvement. During the conference, I remember bringing up the fact that sometimes my transitions are very choppy, and I feel within my last essay there was definitely more of a flow to it, however we agreed that it still needs improvement. At the conclusion of our conference, we agreed that I was definitely participating and earned an A in that category because I am always asking questions and state my opinions during class discussions. For my cumulative work grade we also settled on an A because of my essays

in the course thus far. We settled on these grades because I did not do the bare minimum on any of my assignments, instead I would go above and beyond to make my assignment great. For example, I did a lot of extensive research on my topic of the meat industry, and that was clearly illustrated in my extensive Prezi presentation that I made. I plan to maintain my grade by continuing to work extra hard on assignments, and continuing to improve my writing organization and flow. Now that my conference is over, I surprisingly have no questions or concerns. I definitely still have some challenge with organizing my essays, however I plan to continue improving on that by making more extensive outlines before I begin writing the essay.
