Game Presentation Game Name: Art Guru Game Objective: Practicing recognition of various artists works Number of Players: 2-4 Materials Needed: (for students) Art Guru playing Cards (Artwork and Title/Artist) Artwork Reference Guide
Student Directions: Place the Artwork Reference Guide off to the side facedown Shuffle Artwork playing cards and Title/Artist playing cards separately Deal each player three (3) Artwork playing cards and three (3) Title/Artist playing cards Place the remaining cards of each deck facedown in separate piles o Turn over the top card of each deck and set it facing upward in a discard pile for its corresponding deck In a clockwise manner, each player may choose to pick up a card from either deck o (He/she may pick either the discarded card that is facing upward from either deck or a new card from either deck) o The player must then discard a card belonging to the deck from which they drew The object of the game is to be the first to match all three (3) of your Artwork cards with all three (3) of your Title/Artist playing cards o When any player feels they have matched all three sets, game play stops Each player then uses the Artwork Reference Guide to count the number of accurate matches he/she has The player with the most correct matches is the winner (If no player has any correct matches, game play continues) Who will claim the moniker of The Art Guru?
Make and Take: Materials: Paper (to print out directions and the Artwork Reference Guide) Oak tag (enough to make 52 playing cards) Scissors or paper cutter (to cut out the playing cards) Rubber bands (to keep both decks of playing cards separate)
Directions: Print out copies of the directions listed above Print out a copy of the Artwork Reference Guide

On oak tag, print out the images of artwork and the images title/artist o Cut out the images and the titles/artists (These will become the Artwork and Title/Artist playing cards) Tie a rubber band around each deck of cards to keep them separate You can modify the game to make it more relevant to the subject matter being discussed or more challenging o To make the game more relevant to the subject matter: Make playing cards with images within the genre being discussed Make playing cards with images done by the specific artist being studied o To make the game more challenging: Make playing cards with images that have similar subject matter or titles Make additional playing cards
