PRESSURE EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS (PERs)

What is the PED/PER


Pressure Equipment Directive/Requirements are dictates of the law which make it an offence for any responsible person(s) to place on the market, put into service or

otherwise

supply

pressure

equipment

and

assemblies

above

specified

pressure/volume thresholds unless: They are safe Meet essential safety requirements covering design, manufacture and testing Satisfy appropriate conformity assessment procedures and are accompanied by a declaration of conformity They carry a CE marking and other information in English

PERs apply to the design, manufacture and conformity assessment of pressure equipment and assemblies of pressure equipment with a maximum allowable pressure greater than 0.5 bar.

Condition of Fluids
Toxic, Explosive, Flammable or Oxidizing (Group 1) All other fluids including Steam (Group 2)

How to ensure compliance


Ascertain the fluid type and type of pressure equipment being manufactured. Using the table below, classify the pressure equipment

Go to the appropriate chart, and determine the category of the pressure equipment. Before hand, know the nominal size (DN) and maximum allowable working pressure for the equipment

Chart 7 for Steam

Chart 9 for Hot Water
