The media specialist can provide assistance outside of the classroom modeling how to locate and use other authors' works while keeping intellectual integrity intact. This time outside of the classroom is very important because it would be a less structured and could lead to dependency on finding the easy way out if the student doesn't have control and ownership of the research. Spring 2011, 991628323,CIMT 513,Quiz3A What is an honor code and what should a good one include? What considerations should be given to the creation and implementation of a school honor code? An honor code is a system, or code of conduct, in which students are held accountable, by their peers and themselves, for their actions dealing with representing themselves authentically in their social and academic lives. When you are considering creating and implementing a school honor code, you have to take into consideration that the codes have to be fair, consistent, direct with direct consequences, easy to follow, and easy to adhere to. The codes should be created with students and faculty involved giving input from both vantage points so that there is a mutual understanding between both parties. Students should feel a certain amount of ownership of the codes so that they are more likely to follow through with helping enforce them if the need should arise. It is important to make the codes part of the climate of the school by having something like yearly pep rallies or conventions for the school and new students alike. Signing the codes should be a big deal and almost ceremonial so that the importance is not taken for granted. COMPLETED QUIZ DUE TO INSTRUCTOR AS AN EMAIL ATTACHMENT NO LATER THAN 7:30 P.M. EST
