My Philosophy of Teaching

Manuel Estrada Espinoza

The philosophy of teaching differs among every teacher. Personally, I would like to teach as many different subjects as I can. I am a strong believer that Social Studies, Science, and art should be taught in the classroom as much as possible in addition to Math and Reading. I would also try my best to give the students as much movement as possible in the classroom. I believe students need to be active to let all that energy out. In our classrooms, we will have students who will learn in many different ways and one of those is through kinesthetic learning. Personally, I imagine myself teaching in a classroom where my kids will have several opportunities to engage in different ways of learning including hands-on activities, references to real-life situations, and making connections between what we are learning and the students everyday life. I want classroom management to be one of my top priorities in my teaching. Without classroom management, there is no learning. I want my students to all be successful. I will get a great feeling when they smile and tell me that they have learned something new. I will feel like a successful teacher when I see my kids apply what we learn in the classroom into real-life situations. Positive reinforcement will be one of the things I will do in my classroom. I believe it is a good motivation for students to do well. I will not take away any students recess, therefore instead of taking away their recess, they have to earn their recess. Every time they do something good they earn a minute or so. I will have the best learning environment possible where my students will feel emotionally and physically safe. We will have days full of learning but also with an extra special ingredient to make their days better; that being fun.
