IndependenceDay,August15,commemoratestheday in1947whenIndiaachievedfreedomfromBritishrule. The taste of independence is no doubt sweet after a prolonged period of foreign rule on us. Now we are enjoyingoursovereigntysincelast60yearsandruled by our own elected government. This democracy is achievedbytoilsomestruggleandinvaluablesacrifices, thusitishightimetogoforintrospection.Thoughwe arepoliticallyindependentstillwearelackingbehind as far as financial condition is concerned. Various effortsareontoincreasethesocioeconomicconditions ofthe country,but unfortunatelythey areyet togive the desired result. Experiment on microfinance to eradicatepovertyisalsoasimilareffort.Wearetrying toreachtheunreachedandservetheunservedsection of the society with extending financial help to them, whoarehardlycoveredbyformalfinancialinstitutions. BISWAhastakenaleadroleinthisfield,initiallyinthe stateofOrissa,withformingmorethan22,000selfhelp groupsalloverthestate.Anotherillustrativeaspectof itisthat99%oftheseSHGsarewomenSHGs.Weare also facilitating enterprising activities with this availablefundattheirhands.ByusingtheseSHGsas unitsweare alsotryingtoavailthem thebenefitsof socialdevelopmentschemes.ThusBISWAisactingin itsthreeprongedactions,microfinance,microenterprise andsocialdevelopments.Itisourpleasuretodisclose that we are able to take stride beyond the state and lodgedourpresenceintenotherstatesbesidesOrissa.

Whenshecametoherfamilyherparentsalsodeniedaccepting her.Inahelplesscondition,shecametoKisindaPolicestation. Astherewerenoaccommodationfacilitiesinthepolicestation, theyreferredhertoSWADHARHome,BISWAforshelter. In SWADHAR, she got shelter withallfacilities. Duringherstay, herparentswere approached but theydidnotagree toaccepther.In the meantime Geetas lover approachedSWADHAR,BISWAtomarryGeetathrougha socialactivist.SWADHARstaffsuggestedthemforformal marriageimmediately.BISWAagreedtoconductthemarriage th ceremonyatSWADHARpremises.Hence,on20 July07, thepresenceofMr.K.CMalick,Chairman,BISWA,Print andElectronicMedia,police,advocatesandwellwishersof boththefamily,SWADHARstaffs,andothers,themarriage

tookplaceinasimpleceremony.AspertheHinducustomsandrituals,themarriagetookplacebythe purohitSriBenudhara Acharya. BISWAcelebratedtheWorldBreast st FeedingWeekfrom1 August07to theleadinthisrally.Therallywent through Laxmi Takies, Gole Bazaar, and Municipality ChowkandreachedSahid Stambhaandgarlandedthe statueofNelsonMandela, andthentherallyreached RDCofficeandsubmitted theappealtoRDC.Therally endeditsdestinationatthe office of t he District Magistrate&Collectoroffice andsubmittedtheappealtotheMr. L.N Nayak, DM & Collector, Sambalpurat11AM.Thenacopyof ThethemeoftheappealwasBreast
