Digital Hoax

1. Drag the two images (or more) into Photoshop and decide which image you are using as your
background.
2. If the “Layers” window is not showing, click on “Windows” in the top toolbar, then “Layers”.
3. Click on the image you are using as your background, then click on the “layers” window and make
a copy of your background by dragging the thumbnail to the “create a new layer” icon at the bottom
of the “layers” window”.
4. Check to make sure that both images are the same resolution by checking the image size on each
image. If they are not, make the appropriate adjustments so they are all changed to match the size
of the smallest resolution.

Possible new functions that could be
helpful in creating your Hoax:
Free Transform-allows you to rotate specific
selected areas Edit->Free Transform

Magic Wand Tool Color Balance-allows you to alter the colors

Good for selecting very specific values. of your entire image, or specific selected
areas Image->Adjustments->Color Balance

Other new tools you may need to create
your Hoax:
Blur tool
Blurs areas that may appear too sharp in
order to create a more natural/believable
edge.
Eyedropper Tool
Allows you to select a specific color from
your image in case you need to duplicate
that color somewhere else in the picture.
Hue/Saturation-allows you to alter the
colors, or intensity of the colors of your
image or a specific selected area
Image->Adjustments->Hue/Saturation
Flip Canvas Horizontal/Vertical-allows you
to make a mirror image of your picture in
case you need images to face the opposite
direction
Image->Rotate Canvas->Flip Canvas
Horizontal (or Flip Canvas Vertical)

Brush Tool
Allows you to “paint” a specific color in an
area. Note: this only applies colors, not
textures.

Use these in addition to the other tools

you are already familiar with to make
your hoax seem believable.
