Unit Overview
Unit Title World War II Unit Summary In this unit, students will be able to identify the causes of World War II. As they work through the unit activities, students will discover the ideology behind Nazism, receive an understanding of its policies under Hitler and witness the consequences of the Holocaust. Students will analyze major turning points and major players in World War II. Students will explain the political impact of Allied negotiations on the world. Students will identify the consequences of World War II, understand the impact of the Atomic Bomb, and describe the emergence of the global superpowers. Day Five: World War II The Later Years European Front 1. North African Invasion 2. D-Day 3. Soviet Unions victories 4. Hitlers suicide; Germanys Surrender Day Six: World War II The Later Years Pacific Front 1. Japans Pacific Advances 2. Island Battles Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Tunisia 3. Atomic Age begins 4. Video of Atom Bomb dropping 5. Assignment on Why did the United States drop the Atomic Bomb; due on first day of presentation Day Seven: Test and Group Work 1. Second short test Twenty multiple choice and two short essay questions 2. Finish up on projects Day Eight: Holocaust The aftermath of World War II 1.
