ABOUT
he history of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia goes a long way back to 1993. The University began its early operation as a Polytechnic Staff Training Centre and later Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn in 1996, which was named after the late Tun Hussein Onn, the third Prime Minister of Malaysia. The institute was later upgraded to university college, i.e. Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn in 2000 and then to Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia in 2007. Today the university has about 7800 students, including about 200 international students constituting a vibrant campus community.
The campus is located in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat, about an hours ride from Johor Bharu, the administrative centre for the state of Johor. The journey to the campus from Kuala Lumpur or any other major city is in itself a picturesque adventure traditional villages slumbering in tropical greeneries. Situated in the midst of an advanced industrial network surrounded by traditional villages, the campus presents a combination of modern and traditional that makes for an atmosphere thats refreshing and highly conducive to academic advancement.
