Background of Study Upper secondary students with low proficiency are not given suitable input to enable them to write L2 independently.
Statement of problems Most students in 4M(2009)/5M (2010) could not produce a comprehensible essay in the continuous writing task. These students have low confidence on forming sentences. The students piece of work are chunk of words.
Aims of Study To evaluate the effectiveness of progressive writing on enhancing continuous writing performance.

Findings Students must write simple sentences. Avoid compound and complex sentences. Use students schemata to generate ideas. Give full guidance on keywords. Channel students mind to cling to their own ability.
Conclusion Progressive Writing is effective on enhancing students ability to produce comprehensible essays.
