Saturday, February 23rd @ 10am Screening of the Local History Documentary:

A Clear Channel
Featuring Joe Tave Presented by Dr. Shannon Carter of Texas A&M Commerce Part of the Remixing Rural Texas: Local Texts, Global Contexts Project
This digital humanities project features local efforts for racial justice at one of the two last public colleges in Texas to desegregate (1964). The RRT prototype includes three documentaries, remixed almost entirely from existing archival materials and relevant oral history collections, each featuring attempts by local African American student activists to disrupt persistent racism in a newly desegregated university. The stories revealed in this project are at once very familiar and altogether new (Taken from http://raceinthedh.wordpress.com/ )

A Clear Channel

is a short documentary about East Texas activism in 1967-1968, remixed from primary source materials (oral histories, images, video) native audio and video, and a range of scholarly and contemporary texts. The story features two African American undergraduate students (Joe Tave and John Carlos) and their attempts to promote racial justice in a recently desegregated community.
