Ministry Document: The Ontario Curriculum Grades 9 & 10 Visual Arts 2010. The complete document can be found on the website: http://www.edu.gov.on.ca Major Topics: Students will produce artworks and develop their technical skills in a variety of art disciplines including: drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking. Students will also develop their skills in the composition and design process and will use methods of analysis and criticism to study the characteristics of particular historical art periods and specific artworks. Students will study the following periods in Art History: Primitive Art (Old Stone Age), Egyptian Art, Greek and Roman Art and a selection of Canadian Art and the art of other cultures.

Required Materials / Equipment:

Students are required to bring to class each day a pencil and eraser. It is beneficial, though not essential that students also bring their own coloured pencils, coloured markers, a fine tipped black marker and pencil sharpener. The remainder of the art supplies will be provided by the art department. There is a course fee of $10.00. ( A sketchpad will be provided. A Black Covered Currys Sketchbook can be purchased for an additional fee of $5.00
