The Wave based on the novel by Todd Strasser This movie is based the real experience of a high school

teacher in Palo Alto, CA, who was trying to explain the rise of the Nazi Party to his students. 1. What are the three rules of Mr. Ross behavior code in his classroom? 1. Everyone must have pencils and paper 2. You must stand to the side of your desk to answer a question 3. You must always begin your answer with Mr. Ross 2. What are Mr. Ross two mottoes (that he writes on the board)? Strength Through Discipline, Strength Through Community 3. What is community? Creating a bond with others, being part of a team or a cause 4. Why does Mr. Ross call their movement The Wave? Because they are starting a pattern of change, with movement, direction, & impact 5. What is the third motto that Mr. Ross adds? Strength Through Action 6. How is The Wave spread so quickly through the school? The students enjoy belonging to something special, the students feel they belong to a community and to something special. 7. How do Wave members prevent rebellion in their movement? There are monitors, who watch others and report if they are not following the rules. Others eavesdrop on conversations and report on each other. They scare people, like Laurie, into following the rules and not saying anything bad about The Wave. 8.
