KOSA GELN : Literally, Kosa means spring festival (mother natures waking up) and Gelin means bride.

This festival is present in Trk and Altay cultures. Some of men are dressing up like women and they are preparing a Scarecrow (maybe we can call it as Puppet) its name is KOSA GELN and then putting a special hat on her head, which is symbolizing the sun. And the other participants are dressing up like wolfs, foxes and some other animals. The head of the festival (KOSABAI) wears a fur, but reversely (inside to outside). If the KOSA scarecrow comes to your home with KOSABAI, it means that youll have chance for 1 year. In some countries, only women are playing this ceremony. The similar ceremony to KOSA, is PAKTIGAN. Paktgan is a special ritual for autumn. In the last day of Kosa, a ceremony which is called SEMEN (or SEM, or SOM) is happening. Other name of Semeni is YULA, which means Spirit Protector. Semeni is a kind of desert (Helva). After cooking, they were releasing it to water (river etc.) There are some hidden sexual messages. A piece of bone symbolizes the uterus of women. Kosa, Saya, Payna, Pakta are all parts of this events serie. YALANCI PEHLVAN (FAKE WRESTLER): In daily life language, This expresion is being used for the person who is not able to do something but claims that he/she is able to do.
