OUR CURRICULUM

Reading: Saxon Phonics and Orton Gillingham are two of the many resources we use to meet the needs of each child in reading. Saxon Phonics provides a structured, organized foundation to teaching reading, while the Orton Gillingham approach provides a multisensory approach to reach all learners. In addition, we use a guided reading approach in our reading groups. We teach a variety of necessary reading strategies that include comprehension and fluency. We include novel studies throughout the year. We will be having poetry caf on most Fridays. This helps develop fluency and hopefully, a love of poetry.

Spelling: Our Spelling program is integrated into our Saxon Phonics instruction. We will learn new phonics rules throughout the week and your child will be tested on words that follow these rules on Friday and the new sight words for the week..
