Battle of Trenton
The battle of Trenton took place in Trenton, New Jersey and happened on December 25th, 1776. Washington led his army across the Delaware River in order to inspire his troops to fight. on Christmas night. He had to beat the British Army

Battle of Princeton
The battle of Princeton took place in Princeton, New York on January 3rd, 1777 Washington promised a raise of pay for those who would stay with his army and fight again. The Continental Army ended up beating the British by sneaking behind them and attacking. General Howe wanted revenge on the Continental Army so he made General Cornwallis attack the American force with his 8,000 men army. The British ended up losing to the Americans. Winter at Valley Forge


On September 11th, Washington lost against the British to William Howe. Him and his army fled from the city. Later on October 4th, Washington struck Germantown, but again lost. With the winter approaching, Washington moved his men to winter quarters. The winter quarters are in Valley Forge, Pennslyvania. make it through the winter.

Washington played a big role because he helped his soldiers Baron Von Steuben was a former Prussian officer with a battlefield experience. He arrived at Washingtons headquarters on February 1778 in Valley Forge.

The time was great for the Americans because they got to learn different things from a new leader.

Washington immediately put Steuben in charge of the continental Army. The problem was, Steuben didnt speak much English. He mostly spoke German, but somehow, the Continental Army got the message.
