Background
Ms. Eint Khaing Oo was arrested on
June 2008 while covering a peaceful rally
carried out by victims of the cyclone
Nargis that left more than 138,000 people
death or missing.

A group of cyclone victims, mostly from


South Dagon Township, were on their
way to seek aid from Rangoon-based
international NGOs as they were
receiving inadequate aid and assistance
Eint Khaing Oo from the government.

Ms. Eint Khaing Oo was arrested along


with some cyclone victims. The police
