WHAT ARE SEVERAL STRATEGIES THAT WOULD HELP TO PREVENT CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT?

In order to prevent child abuse or neglect is necessary to eliminate the risk factors. It is necessary to promote public awareness, parent education, home visitation for individual who have abused or neglect previously. Community groups, social services agencies, schools, family support services can help to increase parental abilities and a safe family environment. The programs should focus in risk factors such as substance abuse in woman with children, families who have children with disabilities, or families affected by domestic violence. Public awareness campaigns can inform citizens how and where to report suspected child abuse and neglect. Public services announcements can encourage parents to use non-violent forms of discipline. Teaching the parents about the learning age of their children: appropriate child developmental skills and milestones according with the childs age. Parent education programs located in high school for teen mothers. Families resource centers that offer information and referral service for families living with low income. Teaching to children in workshop at school about protection skills: e.g. learn to distinguish appropriate touching from inappropriate touching( using puppet shows and role-playing activities, books and comics)

DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN ABUSE AND NEGLECT The difference between abuse and neglect is abuse represents an action or commission against a child while neglect represents a lack of action or omission for the child. In abuse, a physical or mental injury is inflicted upon a child. In neglect, there is a failure to meet the minimum needs of the child, such as the need for adequate food, supervision, shelter, guidance, education, clothing, or medical care.
