IW TANK FA 9220 TROUBLE INVESTIGATION

1. Trouble phenomena: a. Bottom plate of tank bend up 4 cm. b. Tank cylinder tear a hole 5 cm at connection between shell and roof. c. Roof plate bent down. All 16 C-Beams for roof support bend down maximum 6 cm. 2. Engineering matter: Check how much load that make roof beam bent about 6 cm average. Data of Beam: Geometry shape: C 180 x 75 x 6.5 Elastic module: E = 20 x 1010 N/m2 Second moment of C-Beam section: Jx = 1180 x 10-8 m4 Length of beam: L = 4.0 m Max bending measure at scene: ymax = 6 cm = 0.06 m

Maximum bending moment occur at x = L/2. Mxmax = Differential Equation of bending line of beam as follow: (2)

Replace (1) into (2) we have:

y =

Take Integral two time we have equation of sag: ( ) ; C, D : infinite integral constants. (3)

Both end condition of beam: x = 0, y = 0 and x = L, y = 0 we determine C and D constants of integral as follow: D = 0, Replace (4) into (3) we have: ( ) (4) (5)

Maximum bending moment occurs at x = L/2, replace this value into (5) we have:

N/m = 4330 kG/m Load per whole beam W = 4330 kG/m x 4m = 17320 kG. Area of C-beam influenced by pressure: A = 7.5 cm x 400 cm = 3000 cm2 Pressure bear by beam:

Conclusion: with the bending of beams average about 6 cm, we found that each beam bear a load about 17.3 Ton equivalent with pressure 5.8 kG/cm2. This pressure do not cause by GA 9220 A/B but GA 9230A/B or Jockey pump (back pressure if valve passing).
