Teachers Comments: Eben has made very good progress in reading during the year. Eben has learned a range of strategies that help him understand the text he is reading. Eben completes most tasks at a basic level on time. Next year we will be raising the expectations as his English has improved. Eben is a social student who is learning to focus on his work and be social during break times. Eben is learning to upload his work onto his Eportfolio to share with his wider community. READING
Assessment Results: (from E portfolio)

Eben uses a range of strategies to work out unfamiliar words or to make meaning of the sentence. He is showing good understanding and works hard at reading all texts given. While Eben is still reading below his chronological age the progress he has made this year has been excellent.
Next year we will continue to work on his comprehension and aim to reach the correct level expected for his age.

How You Can Help at Home: Encourage reading for enjoyment. Visit the library regularly. Read to your child and listen to them read.

WRITING
Assessment Results: (from E portfolio)
Eben is beginning to make good progress in writing. He is starting to transfer the knowledge and word recognition he has learned through reading into his writing. Eben will be expected to add more detail to his writing as a Year 4. Keep working on spelling Eben.

How You Can Help at Home:


Have writing equipment available for your child. Get your child to write about some special events or letters to relatives.

MATHEMATICS
Assessment Results: (from E portfolio) Eben has made progress in Maths however he tends to sit back and not apply himself to task he understands. Eben needs to continue to practise basic facts rapid recall and he needs to use a range of strategies he knows to solve maths problems.

How You Can Help at Home: Take your child shopping and get them to add up what things will cost. Play maths games in the car. Practise Times tables with them.
